Saying Goodbye to your Residents for a month?

Winter break is upon us! And we're all excited (I know I'll be spending break sleeping...)

But, it can be weird to be away from your residents for an ENTIRE month. A lot happens in a month, and you won't see them until mid-way through January. This can feel weird - I know it does for me!

Over break though, I like to keep in touch. Posting on the facebook is a great way to do this. I've also had skype calls in the past where we all watch the same movie over skype, together (but this depends on your relationships with your residents).

Break is a nice time to relax, but don't forget about your residents and your relationship with them! Returning after a month may feel weird, but if you're intentional about keeping in touch over break, it'll feel like you never left!

Check in with your residents this week about their break plans, their excitement to be off for a month, and their thoughts for next semester. Having similar discussions with every resident can get tiring, but it makes a difference to them to see you're engaged and you care about them!

Happy Winter Break!
